Yesterday, we exited the shallow fairway of Telegraph Harbour, navigated Dodd narrows (Brooke at the helm) and collected Austin from the fuel dock at Nanaimo. Austin arrived by floatplane a couple hours prior catching the Kenmore ride out of Edmonds at 8am. We fueled up (72 liters or about 20 gals diesel for $110 US), tossed off our dock lines and rounded the south shore of Newcastle Island on our way to Schooner Cove. We arrived at Schooner 3:30pm, collected a rental car and were soon admiring the wide array of baked goods and assortment of produce at the Coombs market, most known for its grazing goats on the roof. We returned to Schooner restocked the galley, rinsed the salt off Ohana and filled the water tank. Exhausted by the full day, we all retired early quite happy to be horizontal.
Today, the weather is favorable for the run northwest to Hornby Island. Winds will build through the morning and we need to cast off soon to escape a rough ride later in the day.
