Nearby Ohana, the San Juan Enterprise lies quietly at the fuel dock on Blakely Island. Ninety-six feet of black and white diesel powered muscley steel, SJ Enterprise was purchased a year ago by captain Dan Crookes and first mate Brian primarily to haul propane, they now haul a variety of items of need across the San Juans. Today she dropped off a flatbed trailer of lawn service equipment which was happily met and towed away by one of the few vehicles on this small private island. The vast majority of the island is off-limits to the visiting public, but there is a quaint marina sequestered behind the old-fashioned General Store and soda-fountain type cafe. Room for over a dozen visiting boats (reservations recommended) and creamy malts and shakes makes this a great stopover for the traveler navagating the waters of the southern San Juans. Persistent morning fog has us holding over... for undetermined number of chocolate malts. Later we may make our way to a nearby anchorage en route to the customs station at Bedwell Harbour. We hope to be on the hook at Montague Harbour in the Gulf Islands by Wednesday.
